Long ago, ale was known as “Liquid Bread”. We’ve used our long history of creating the finest malt blends & added fairtrade bananas to awaken the senses with a seriously fruity, rich, yet surprisingly versatile banana bread beer.
An inspired brew made with our own natural mineral water & fair-trade bananas. Tempting banoffee aromas & flavours are balanced by the silky richness of a masterful malt blend & the peppery spice of the freshest, ripest hops. 500 ml, 5.2% alc./vol.
How does that song go? “Get your skis shined up, grab a stick of… pop the cap, take a sniff, the taste, the taste is going to move you” or something like that. That’s a long way to go to point out that you can really smell the banana once you take the cap off this bad boy. The taste is nice, sweet and highly carbonated. The colour is amber and the texture is wet and smooth. I could have a few of these.
This is perhaps the most unique brew I have ever had. It’s like drinking a banana dessert. So sweet, but so right!
This may become a regular in my fridge!
So far – all winners!!!
You can actually taste the banana, and it’s not totally terrible. It’s got that hoppy sulfury smell, but the taste is sweet, banana-ey, and not too bad. I was expecting this to be a novelty beer (and to some extent it is), but it’s fairly drinkable. I could have a few of these. I wonder if the beer cocktail set would mix this with Früli, and call it a Strawberry Banana Sudsdae?
Actually, I was reminded a bit of bubble gum when I smelled the beer for the first time. So it’s funny that Huw would mention the juicy fruit ad.
I was at the liquor store this summer picking up some different craft brews for the upcoming camping trip to Sandbanks so the boys and i can try something different. As i was leaving The Store, i noticed the Wells Banana Bread Beer at one of the displays close to the cashier. Banana bread? Really? Well i thought this might be different and worth a try!
I gotta say we all enjoyed the beer! You can absolutely smell the banana aroma. And the taste? Can you can absolutely taste the banana there too! I really enjoyed this beer! Not too hoppy/fruity. I didnt find it overly sweet. Went down very nice! I have had this a few times since that camping trip.
Glad everybody enjoyed this one.
