Our newest Limited Edition is a celebration of everything Dougal has learned and loved about barrel ageing over the last 15 years. This barrel-aged double IPA has been matured in specially selected 15 year old whisky barrels from the Highlands of Scotland in the barrel store at The Innis & Gunn Brewery in Perth. The result is a 7.4% abv full flavoured beer, with zesty orange and oak aromas, vibrant marmalade hop flavours and a mellow finish with hints of vanilla and heather honey from the barrel.
Cheers to the next 15 years. 330 ml, 7.4% alc./vol.
Not what I expected. I expected this Double IPA to be very hoppy, but I am going to assume that the barrels have mellowed out the harshness of the hops. Very nice to drink, gold in colour and a little dangerous if you forget it’s 7.4%. Off to a great start.
A nice mellow beer with the oaky buttery flavour you’d expect from Innis & Gunn. I kinda wished I’d had an original I&G to compare it with (it’s been a while). Since it wasn’t overly hoppy, I found that the taste of the alcohol came through more than some other IPAs at that strength.
I found this to be a perfect way to kick off the season!!
This had the heathery honey overtones that they advertised! It was a clean drinking beer that was true to the I&G line.
The alcohol came through more than I expected; but it wasn’t offensive, it added to the character of the brew.
