Roasted barley, chocolate malt and locally roasted coffee lend this porter its full, rich character. A fitting tribute to the Old North we call home, brewed in collaboration with Diesel House Coffee Roasters.
Pours almost black with beautifully creamy, mocha-coloured foam. Upon further inspection, the colours are actually deep ruby, garnet and dark brown. The aromas include cappuccino, mocha, chocolate and vanilla with a hint of molasses and pie crust. The flavours include subtle sweetness with dark chocolate, mild coffee and tiramisu. The mouth feel is dry (fairly mild) with some initial sweetness. The finish is medium-to-moderate bitterness that lingers and delivers a nice coffee profile that arrives quite late. 750 ml, 6.5% alc./vol.
As porters go, I like this one a lot. Not too bitter. A nice hint of chocolate. I find the coffee flavour to be very subtle (but for me, that’s probably a good thing). All in all, it’s a thumbs up from me.
This was another delicious porter. Nice and malty with a slight hit of coffee. I was expecting something a little more bitter and was pleasantly surprised with the profile of this brew!!
We are on a roll so far!!!
Very delicious. I enjoyed this very much. Everything was understated, but still recognizable. I’m not a huge fan of in-your-face flavours when it comes to beer and this did not disappoint.
