For the first time ever, YOU get to pick what beer we send to LCBO stores next. Pick up the Nickel Brook Mystery Pack, tell us which beer was your favourite, and we’ll launch the winning beer in the LCBO next spring!
Faced with four cans marked simply A, B, C and D, we want you to sample these beers without being swayed by packaging, tasting notes or marketing copy. Head to nickelbrook.com/mysterypack and vote for your favourite. The people’s choice will be launched in the LCBO in Spring 2018.
We always try to listen to what our fans tell us what they want, and now we can really make it happen. This is the first time (that we know of) that a brewery has directly asked the people who drink their beer what they want on store shelves, and we’re really stoked to have the LCBO on board as well. Which will you choose?
Beer C New England Style IPA 473 ml, 6.5% alc./vol.
I find this IPA a bit more interesting than B. Again with a nice fresh hoppiness, but this one has a little something else. The hops are a bit more bitter than B, but not too much for me to find it enjoyable. But the big difference is something sweet. I wonder if there’s a bit of a fruit juice in this? Maybe peach or apricot? Or maybe it’s my imagination. Also, 6.5% seems a bit more appropriate for an IPA. So far, this one is my favourite.
I just noticed while pouring D that the ingredients are printed on the can, so I suppose that it can be confirmed that there is no fruit juice in this. I guess it’s just a fruitier variety of hop. Anyway, I like it.
I agree with Russ. This is a more enjoyable brew that “B”.
I felt there was a cleaner finish and it was ultimately more enjoyable for me.
Not my fave though….
